We're always excited to see our customers at Rent Backyard Hens continue on and start their own backyard flocks. And it's often we're asked for coop recommendations that can be purchased online. The good news is we've done the deep dive and identified a variety of quality coops that will keep the backyard flock happy, healthy, and safe from predators. For this selection we've taken into consideration the quality of materials used to construct the coops, security from predators, their capacity and durability, and of course, their ease of assembly.    

The Omlet Eglu Cube - Large Chicken Coop with Chicken Run

Best for: The urban backyard chicken enthusiast with a small to medium-sized backyard.

Capacity: 10 bantams, or 8 medium-sized hens, or 6 larger-sized breeds.

Coop Materials: Plastic, steel, and wire.

Security Features: Durable polyethylene housing with welded wire mesh run. We really like the design of the wire skirt to keep predators from tunneling under the run.   

Ease of Assembly: Easy to assemble. Omlet provides online video assembly instructions. 

Summary: Overall, the Omlet Eglu Cube chicken tractor is a durable well-made coop. It's designed to make chicken chores convenient by providing slide out plastic trays that are easy to wipe down and keep clean. Wheels at one end make the coop easily movable around the yard. The added security feature of the anti-tunnel skirt to keep predators from digging under the run is a real plus.

Best for: Small to medium-sized backyard.

Capacity: Up to eight adult chickens.

Coop Materials: Powder coated all steel frame, wood panels, and steel mesh run.

Coop Materials: Durable heavy-duty wood frame, floor, and panels; floor and paneling is treated with resin material for long-lasting use.

Summary: This chicken coop is durable and well-constructed. It is slightly raised off the ground and good in all climates.
